Traversée I - Silhouettes Contemporaines X
Traversée I is a project based on the multiplicity and tranversality. First, multiple contemporary music: from the repertoire (Cage, Andriessen), the music of today from alive composers (Czernowin, Rojko, Harada), and an original composition, a world premiere recording (Pouillès). Multiplicity of the periods, with some nods to the Renaissance music (Pavana Electricæ, Lacrimosa), a period highly active in artistic research and experimentation, and which presents a singular analogy with contemporary music. Last but not least, the accordion meets several guitars: the electric guitar, the classical guitar or the renaissance guitar (and even the folk guitar in The 5th Season second movement!), in a perpetual desire to explore the combination of timbre and space.

Recorded in May 2022 in his studio Villa Palma, Tiri Carreras uses a reduced kit with the horizontal bass drum, cymbals and many objects. Here, the bass drum is used more as a resonance box because it allows to amplify the produced sounds and is also used by rubbing the skin to produce continuous sounds impossible to obtain by the percussion. Some tracks, in particular Balaena and Melanocetus, are inspired by the aquatic environment, reminding us of cetacean cries or underwater sound recordings. The cover of the album also invites to cut the cord and dive solo into the aquatic environment with ears wide open...

“French “impressionism” has left us with a rather limited vision of the harp, as if its most characteristic feature were that it could only be played by half-naked girls with long, blond hair, who confine themselves to drawing seductive glissandi from it. But the harp has another harder, louder and aggressive side to it. Sequenza II aims to bring out some of these characteristics, and to make them appear simultaneously: at certain moments it must sound like a forest with the wind blowing through it.” - Luciano Berio
Inspired by Berio, who significantly contributed to an emerging era for the harp, I recorded pieces by composers who I believe did so as well.
Continuing the path of sonic explorations, I created three electronic pieces which encapsulate fragments of the recorded material. Applying and integrating modular synthesizers and analog effects, these creations might suggest a future direction for the harp as a solo instrument.
During live performances of this album, I use a 3D visual installation to augment and virtually intensify the experience.
It has been a big pleasure to explore this sonic world and, more importantly, an opportunity to contribute to a future paradigm.

Resonancias (resonances), is a cycle of electro-acoustic pieces inspired by the resonance relationships between humans, animals and our city environment. The selected material is expanded and we worked with few sound samples, to try to develop multiple sonorities, timbres and physical sensations. The spatiality of these pieces was particularly treated with the ambisonic system and their edition was developed in Bitwig.

Sonner-résonner was composed using different materials—a metal plate and a crystal glass, both filled with varying levels of water—that were struck, rubbed, and allowed to resonate. A microphone was placed up against the plate and the glass, and the sounds it captured opened up a whole palette of colours that could be brought to life with digital processing. This piece was inspired by the potential similarity of the sounds from two very different materials, as well as the melodic variation created by changing the water levels in each container.

The album's inspiration has been fictionalized as the representation of dark thoughts lost in the mind on sound. Throughout the pieces, the disturbing silence of the emotions that you want to escape is broken. A way of speaking about a ghost wandering in a crowded city. For a ghost, the crowded city is only empty streets. Not seen, not heard, not felt. The sounds it hears begin to inspire it. The moment it begins to speak, language turns into sounds, not words. In this album, we listen to what the ghost wants to tell us about its story.

Inspired by the sound peculiarities of the TRoneitor, built by Lucas Werenkraut from electronic scrap, and in conjunction with the vocal research that singer Natalia Cappa has been developing for years, the Duo TRoneitor emerged in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in January 2018.
The musical and sound work of Duo TRoneitor is based on improvisation, the use of multiple vocal resources, texts, pre-existing songs, images, and on the intrinsic nature of the sound generated by the instrument. The TRoneitor is entirely built with electronic scrap, which is an elegant way to call a particular kind of garbage that today's society produces in absurd amounts. Recycling this garbage and creating sound and musical art from it, constitutes for Duo TRoneitor, as well as a path of artistic research, a way to openly question our consumption habits and discard as inhabitants of a planet of finite resources.
