DESERT SONGS (EP)
A limited edition 12 inch Vinyl by Dawn Landes & Piers Faccini
Between takes whilst recording the EP Desert Songs, the two songwriters Dawn Landes and Piers Faccini found inspiration for the songs they were writing together by walking in the stark and beautiful mountain scenery around Piers’s studio in the Cevennes region of the south of France. Chatting as they walked, they swopped tales of desert mystics and seekers that would inspire them to write the songs for their collaborative EP. Dawn and Piers wove the arrangements together using the rich collection of instruments in Piers’s studio, a Malian Kora, a 1930’s National resonator guitar, West African percussion and an Indian dulcimer and tampura.

Quatre compositions originales inspirées par la tradition du chant de travail. Sur le chantier ou l’aire de battage, le chant règle une cadence. Partout les voix syncopées collent au rythme des outils, de l’effort, d’un battement : c’est la frappe des mains au rythme des coups de hache, le bruit mat du pilon sur la pierre d’un mortier… Résonnant des traditions vocales des origines Afro-Américaines et du Sud Méditerranéen, les 4 titres inédits de Work Songs éclairent d’un jour nouveau la musique originale et sans frontières qui est la touche de Piers Faccini.
L’artwork du 12 inch est réalisé à partir d'estampes originales par Piers Faccini.

The whole package will be sent out in customized Kraft envelope with an original Beating Drum printed seal. The EP also comes with an original short story written by Jenny Lysander.
